I have a request below, but first an announcement: if you're in the Las Vegas area right now, please come meet me and some others from the Carter Campaign at our local Drinking Liberally, which is at Outpost Saloon at 2200 Rainbow Blvd at W. Lake Mead, north of the Best in the West Shopping Center. It starts -- hmm, ten minutes ago. I'd love to meet some people from the site! Jack was there last week, but can't make it tonight because of an illness. (He'll get better.) The press is supposedly doing a feature story on the local DL group tonight, so that's another reason to come and show the flag. (And I'll have campaign swag for you!)
This second request is made to programmers, but being out of space in the intro box I'll put it under the fold.
There is some software that many campaigns can afford to buy to help with the field operation -- targeting and contacting voters (canvassing, direct mail, etc.) It costs $26,000. We're ... ... ... not spending that sort of money on it, thank you! We can get by with workarounds, but we also understand that there are some open source alternatives that may be available. We need a volunteer programmer to evaluate them and perhaps adapt them. I will give details to those programmers who write; the rest of you can just know that we're trying to get someone to save us a cool $26K and I'll be there's a good chance we'll find a volunteer. If that might be you, please write me at greg@carterfornevada.com. Thanks!
